Voices From Our Community

The strongest reflection of our work comes from the people, families and communities we walk alongside. These voices speak to the importance of connection, culture and creating stronger pathways together.

The spiritual essence is what grounds what language you speak, what land you stand on - that's what connects you to your Aboriginality

Frequently Asked Questions

KOWS programs are community-led and responsive. We recognise that every young person, family and community is different. Our programs are shaped by culture, relationships, local knowledge and the voices of the people involved.

KOWS programs primarily support Aboriginal young people, families and communities in Mparntwe (Alice Springs) and surrounding communities. Depending on the program, we may also work alongside families, Elders, cultural leaders, schools, educators and community or service partners.

Programs are delivered in community-based and culturally appropriate settings, including schools, community spaces, on Country, town camps and other suitable locations across Mparntwe and surrounding communities. Wherever possible, we work with those involved to choose a setting that is appropriate, accessible and culturally safe.

Contact the KOWS team and tell us a little about your organisation, community or group and what support you’re looking for. We can then have a conversation about the available programs and next steps.

Costs vary depending on the program or activity. Some activities may be fully funded and available at no cost, while tailored programs, workshops or partnerships may require funding or a contribution from the commissioning organisation. Contact KOWS to discuss the specific program or activity.

KOWS values smaller, culturally safe and relational spaces where people have the opportunity to participate, yarn and be heard. Group sizes vary depending on the activity, participants, cultural considerations and community needs.

Program duration depends on the activity and the needs of participants. KOWS may deliver one-off workshops, multi-day activities or programs that continue over a longer period, with flexibility built in wherever possible to respond to community needs.
